It’s finally spring! The time of year when flowers begin to bloom, and spring cleaning starts in full swing. Many of us use this season to declutter and rid our homes of unwanted things. After all, spring offers us a fresh start, and what better way to start anew than with a clean and tidy space?
I’m a sucker for spring cleaning! I love taking the time to pause, reflect and purge my mental and physical space of things that no longer serve me. In fact, I also spring clean my business. Once I do this, I feel lighter and better equipped to take on new, exciting projects that come my way.
Here are 3 ways to spring clean your business:
1. Clean up your website.
Businesses grow and evolve over time, so you’ll want to change any outdated website copy to reflect your business as it is today. Update the ‘About Us’ page on your site to include any new information or accolades.
Also, be sure to check your links. Broken links can negatively affect user experience. Use a free online broken link checker to identify and replace any broken links on your website.
2. Declutter your digital space.
As business owners, we’re often flooded with emails from vendors and customers. If we don’t clear our inbox regularly, we’re bound to miss an important email or two.
Start by organizing your emails into clearly labelled folders, and delete any old, unwanted emails. If your inbox is constantly overflowing, perhaps it’s time to hire a virtual assistant (VA) to help you out.
You should also go through the files on your computer and organize them into folders. Back up all your important data, if you haven’t already.
3. Organize your books
If tax season is proving to be a nightmare, you may want to adopt new financial tools to organize your books. Here are 5 financial tools every business owner must have.
A good way to declutter your physical space is to digitize important financial documents such as invoices from vendors, and look into going paperless moving forward. In addition to being good for the environment, doing this also makes it easier for you to locate and pull up any files you need come tax season.
