When you hear the name Stacy London, you probably think of her iconic run on What Not to Wear. But these days, Stacy has taken her expertise in fashion and her passion for empowering women to a whole new level.
In Episode 9 of SHELF HELP, I had the privilege of talking with Stacy about her journey from TV personality to entrepreneur, her groundbreaking work with QVC, and her mission to make style accessible, inclusive, and empowering for women in midlife.
Stacy’s transition into entrepreneurship was inspired by her personal experience with perimenopause and the challenges of redefining her identity in midlife. She recognized that many women face similar struggles: changing bodies, shifting self-esteem, and a desire to look stylish without sacrificing comfort.
Rather than seeing midlife as a crisis, Stacy views it as a renaissance, a time to embrace change and celebrate evolution. Through her work with QVC, she’s creating a collection of clothing that empowers women to feel confident, elegant, and comfortable in their own skin.
For Stacy, personal style is more than just clothing—it’s a powerful tool for self-expression and self-esteem. She believes that how we present ourselves to the world can influence how we feel on the inside.
Her QVC collection reflects this philosophy, offering inclusive sizing (0-28, with plans to expand) and high-quality pieces designed with midlife women in mind. From machine-washable fabrics to versatile “addables” (think detachable collars and cuffs), her designs are as practical as they are stylish.
Stacy shared candidly about the challenges of transitioning from TV to business ownership, including:
• The Importance of Research: Understanding your market and identifying gaps is critical.
• Authenticity: Staying true to her mission of empowering women has been central to her success.
• Learning from Setbacks: Stacy’s initial venture into menopause-related products taught her the importance of product-market fit and focusing on what truly benefits the consumer.
Stacy is just getting started. She’s refining her QVC collections, experimenting with innovative concepts like addables, and continuing her advocacy for women’s health and self-esteem. Her goal is simple yet profound: to help women celebrate who they are at every stage of life.
In harmony,
